Farmington Picture

In 2005, a grant to install a passive ALD treatment system for LC20D was funded by a PADEP Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation pass through grant to Farmington Township . LC20D was the worst dischage in Little Coon Run. This system was the #1 recommendation of the Farmington Restoration Plan. The system was designed, bid, and constructed in 2007. It consists of an anoxic limestone drain followed by a settling pond and a constructed wetland. It is removing 100 lb/day of acidity and 60 lb/day of Fe from Little Coon Run.  Significant improvements to the stream have been observed.
