HULING BRANCH

The most highly polluted area of the Twomile Run watershed is the Huling Branch, a tributary that enters Twomile Run just above the mouth. The discharges to the Huling Branch are so severe that they cannot be treated using passive treatment technologies.

Hedin Environmental was asked to complete a specific study of this area, focusing on possible mitigation and reclamation strategies to lessen the amount and severity of the pollution to the Huling Branch. The Huling Branch Investigation was funded by Trout Unlimited and the Growing Greener Program.

The final deliverable for this project was a March 2004 report that recommended several approaches to the pollution problem in Huling Branch. The executive summary of this report follows.
