ELK RUN

The Elk Run and Little Elk Run Restoration Plan was completed by HE and the EADS Group, Inc. in May 2002.  Hedin Environmental prepared the mine drainage portions of the report, while the EADS Group, Inc. focused on storm water and flooding issues.  This project was sponsored by the Borough of Punxsutawney and funded by the Growing Greener program. 

The Restoration Plan is based on data obtained from the DEP (Knox District Mining Office), which sampled the watershed in 2000 and 2001 at stations installed by HE.   

The Restoration Plan provides recommendations for all the major discharges to the watershed.  The top priority project in the plan, the LERMD20 treatment system, was funded by DEP based on the recommendations of the draft plan.
