EAST BRANCH
The Restoration Plan for East Branch Lake and Johnson Run was completed by HE in May 2000. This project was sponsored by the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Development Commission and the Elk County Fishermen. The project was funded by Growing Greener.
The data used for the Restoration Plan was obtained from DEP (Knox District Mining Office), who sampled the area from 1996 through 1998. The watershed is affected by both historic mining activities and acid rain.
The report provided several recommendations and conceptual plans. One of the high priority projects, the JRU88/HRU89 Johnson Run treatment system, was funded by Growing Greener based on the recommendations of the Restoration plan.
